Zwischen Tradition und Moderne wurde manches historische Bauwerk im alten Stil rekonstruiert - und mit anderen Gebäuden moderne Akzente gesetzt.Die Aufnahmen setzen verschiedenste Seiten des Münsteraner Lebens in Szene: vom Markt auf dem Domplatz über den städtischen Zoo und sportliche Ereignisse.

The first thing I noticed as Cypress Hill strolled into NPR headquarters was Sen Dog cradling his signature bucket hat. I asked him if my assumptions were correct; it was indeed the original hat seen in all the videos from the early '90s. Before I could process that confirmation, B Real asked me, "Yo, is your greenroom a greenroom?" We got everything we expected and more from Cypress Hill at the Tiny Desk.While the term "pioneer" is used loosely in pop culture today, few terms describe Cypress Hill's impact over the past three decades more adequately. They are the first Latino hip-hop group to achieve platinum and multi-platinum status. B Real, Sen and producer DJ Muggs crafted a sound in the '90s that stretched beyond regional boundaries. It was dark, psychedelic and at times directly addressed mental health before the topic was commonplace. Many dismissed the group as "stoner rappers," yet the members were fervent advocates for the legalization of weed long before it came to fruition.Touring members Eric Bobo and DJ Lord joined the duo along with Money Mark from Beastie Boys fame. The band summoned a horn section to fill out this rare minimalist approach to five, funky Cypress Hill things. "Exactly six months ago, we learned that Black Sabbath’s original lineup — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — were getting back together for one last show. It would be their first performance in over eight years and first with Ward in nearly 20. The Black Sabbath finale would double as a farewell concert for Osbourne, who retired from touring three years ago while dealing with serious health problems including Parkinson’s disease, and it would really be more like a day-long festival featuring some of the biggest names in heavy music leading up to the main event. Today at Villa Park in the group’s hometown of Birmingham, UK, the big event finally happened."

Katie Gavin is the kind of performer whose dynamism knows no bounds. Whether she’s performing with her pop band MUNA or solo, Gavin is a captivating presence.
Each of the four songs Gavin plays from her folksy record, What a Relief, have ambitious and honest lyrics, yet no two songs sound the same. “Aftertaste” serves as a bridge between MUNA’s sound and Gavin’s solo work. “The Baton” is a violin-forward reflection on intergenerational trauma. “Sanitized” is groovy and introspective. And Gavin’s performance of “Sketches” puts her on par with the Lilith Fair artists whose sounds inspired her album.
“This whole solo record was very, like, experimental and playful,” says Gavin as she shifts between the violin, piano and guitar. “I'm playing a lot of instruments that I don't really play,” she admits — though you wouldn’t guess that by the way she casually slays a violin solo or plays the piano with her eyes closed.
Before “Sketches,” a song that deals with the theme of love versus fear, Gavin gives a moving speech about what it’s like to live in the overwhelming world we’re in right now. Gavin then mentions that she’s been talking to a young girl in Gaza, who she asked if she wanted to share anything with the audience. “She told me that she wanted to say that, despite everything, she still believes in life, and she knows that there are people in this world whose hearts are full of compassion,” says Gavin. “And if she can share that and believe in that, then it makes me believe I definitely can, too.”

Rather than counting the years, Kompakt celebrates milestones—and their 500th release is a landmark worth celebrating: a limited collector’s box set featuring 50 handpicked tracks across five colored LPs, a 10” vinyl, and a stunning 144-page artbook chronicling the Kompakt story from 1993 to the present.
Electronic Beats TV revisited the Kompakt crew—20 years after our first feature on the Electronic Beats Slices DVD—to talk about the anniversary release, the challenges of running an independent label today, and their enduring connection to visual art.

Letter to San Zaw Htway is a short participatory documentary. In the aftermath Myanmar’s 2021 military coup, the filmmakers invited the loved ones of Burmese artist and activist San Zaw Htway to write letters to him: this film is composed of their words.
Synopsis:
The brutal military coup of February 1st of 2021 destroyed ten years of fragile democratic transition in Myanmar and has killed and imprisoned thousands.
The anonymous writers in this film seek inspiration from San Zaw Htway’s all too brief life to come to terms with the cruelty of this military regime. A student activist, he had been sentenced to 36 years in prison before being released during the country’s ill-fated democratic transition. He overcame his 13 years of prison with wisdom, resilience, and grace.
Filmed by Burmese cinematographer Bo Thet Htun, who followed the army’s take-over in the months after the coup, and by Petr Lom, who filmed together with San Zaw Htway over a period of four years.

Seit über 25 Jahren haben sie mit Bands und solo Musikgeschichte geschrieben, als Liebespaar Höhen und Tiefen durchlebt und gemeinsam ihre Söhne großgezogen. Jetzt haben beide ihren 50.
