Happy Birthday Fela Kuti!

Brotha Onaci sez:
Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Anikulapo-Kuti's birthday is October 15. He was born Ransome-Kuti, but adopted Anikulapo in place of his slave name. In celebration of the influential musician, i’ve put together a short mix. If you’re not familiar with Fela, this should serve as a nice introduction. If you’re already a Fela fan, i hope this mix reminds you of some of the dope tracks he created over the years.
There is much that one could write about Fela. He developed the genre of music, which he named "Afrobeat," by infusing high life and other African sounds with the music of African Americans during the 1960s, particularly the style of funk that We associate with James Brown. Fela's extensive catalog of original has caused some to rank him among the greatest musicians in the world.
You can learn more about Fela Kuti by reading Michael E. Veal's book, FELA: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF AN AFRICAN MUSICAL ICON.
